2009 Emerging Leaders Conference, Opening Session
The CUNY Leadership Academy co-sponsors conferences and other professional development opportunities for CUNY students in cooperation with the CUNY Colleges, student organizations, and external partners. In addition, CUNY Career Services and the campus Career Centers offer a wide range of professional development opportunities for students.
Ongoing conferences include the Emerging Leaders Conference which is open to all CUNY students, and the New Leadership Challenge which is for newly elected student government officials. The Academy also co-sponsors the College of Staten Island Leadership Conference and other conferences such as the Intercollegiate Women's Conference which was held at Baruch College.

Students have attended the National Student Leadership Conferences in Orlando (2007) and Atlanta (2008), the United Nations - ATHGO Forum in New York, the World Bank - ATHGO Forum in Washington, D.C., and participated in other professional development experiences including a visit and forum at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and attendance of the 2009 Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C.
The Annual New Leadership Challenge provides a unique opportunity for newly elected student government officials to come together and interact with their counterparts from across CUNY.This conference offers participants the chance to work together on best practices, learn from their peers, and continue their education with respect to leadership and advocacy. This year's Challenge promises to be very exciting, engaging, and educational. International's Global Forums. These forums, hosted and in partnership
with organizations including the United
Nations University and the World Bank, offer students a great
opportunity to work with students from around the world and engage
in critical discourse around issues of global import. Students attend
multi-day sessions that include dialogue with world leaders in the
areas of focus and working in teams to design innovative social
ventures, business plans, or social action plans. To learn more
